How do you spend your time?
Time. The world we live in now is fast-paced with instant gratification. Everyone is always in a hurry and carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. Family, Christ, friends, work, extracurricular activities etc.... There are not enough hours in the day! But we make time for things that are important to us.
Wow! Did that hurt your heart a bit? The first time I heard it it hurt my heart too. All of the times I had told my children I could not play with them because I was reading something on my phone came rushing back to my mind. How I had scolded them for interrupting my social media time. Social media had become more than just a trend for me. It had become an obsession. My priorities were completely out of whack. My phone, Facebook, and mindless things came in before spending time with my family and spending time with Christ. Which translates to my phone, Facebook, and mindless things had become more IMPORTANT than spending time with my family and spending time with Christ. But God wants us to spend time with him. I could not remember the last time I just sat in silence and meditated in His presence. Or sat down and really studied my Bible. Not just skimming through it, but actually sitting down and understanding what God was trying to say to me in the verses I had picked to read. Psalm 90:12 tells us "So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom." We must turn to God to help us line up our priorities. Remember that YOU have the power to establish your priorities. Think about your day to day life. Is it spent on a cell phone? Or is it spent with Christ and with your family? Are you engaged in the real world going on around you. Pray to God that he will reveal to you where he wants your priorities to lie. Pray that he will show you how he wants you to worship him in your own way. Spend time in the word. Everyday. The more you do it the easier it becomes! Pray and meditate in God's word. Feel His presence inside of you. Sing out! Put your phone down and focus on the life that is going on around you. Don't miss it!
Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.
